OK guys so this post is all about Underrated Comic Characters. You know those characters that are pretty awesome but just done't just get the attention that they deserved. Now this isn't involving statistics or polls it's just characters that feel are cool but don't get recognized for it.
Marvel Ares
How many have seen this guy? Not many I presume. Ares joined the comic roster during the Civil War event. He was part of Tony Stark's Mighty Avengers and was major part of Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers. I liked the guy. He was gruff and tough like wolverine but he also had a godly personality like Thor. But unlike Thor, Ares wasn't righteous Thor was all about the glory of battle while Ares saw it as a job to get done. He was a warrior seasoned and bloody so it was that form of a darker god that I thought was really cool. Thor is really the only god among men when it comes to comics so to see this gruff warrior stand with the Avengers and fight the good fight (I also feel bad for the guy since everyone prays to Athena for luck in battle when Ares is the GOD OF WAR. But sadly Ares had a downfall. After Ares joined the Dark Avengers he started to be used as a tool and wasn't to bright when it came to picking his fights. So the God of war found himself ripped in half by the Sentry during the Siege of Asgard. Lets hope War comes once more.
Captain Atom
More of you will know this guy. Captain Atom was a very early super hero but has not enjoyed the spotlight as much. I manly got interested in him during the New 52 when he became more of a Doctor Manhattan. One thing I always like about heroes working with the Military is when they questioned themselves. When they have to choose to wipe out a village or save it. Also I think that captain atom should always be considered a deterrent when it comes to dealing with Superman. They've had some pretty awesome beat downs.
Blue Marvel
Now there is one problem in comics that has troubled them for generations. Superman is White!!!! And with the growing need for diversity in comics a great many black characters have been made. But Blue Marvel stands out to me. A lot of times in comics a character is made black just for the sake of making them black. And maybe Blue Marvel was for the same case. But they also touched on it. The Blue Marvel Miniseries told the tragic tale about how a man with great power and a strong moral compass was forced to hang up the cape simply because of his race. And that showed how the dark and unfair the world really can be. It's not enough for a character simple to be black they have to be fleshed out and made real. With a personality of there own and something other then their skin colour to make them unique. But sadly the writers at marvel have not made the push to make Blue Marvel a important characters. I mean you could easily take out Hyperion who is just a rip off superman and Nightmask who was made black for diversity sack. It's time for Blue Marvel to be in the spotlight. Give the man in Blue his due (ha I made a rhyme)
Simon Baz
Now to be honest I don't like this guy. He kind of just showed up and then they forgot about him. I read his back story and it was awesome it was much darker then all the others. Baz was fearless because he had to be in order to survive and pull of the these car robberies. Then they gave him a ring and he was off...........for about three comics. I don't even know what DC is doing with him right now. But there needs to be more for this guy. More MORE!!!!! MORE!!!!!
Beta Ray Bill
This guy is cool. Bill showed up in a Thor comic awhile back. When his people were under attack from demons they left their planet in stasis pods. And out of the whole race Bill was chosen to guard them. He was outfitted with technology and weapons to become the greatest achievement of his people. But one day Thor found his ship and like most people amused that the horse faced cyborg was evil. But it turns out that bill was a righteous warrior capable of lifting the mighty Mjolnir. And after helping Thor battle the demons that attacked him Bill was awarded his own magic hammer, Storm Breaker! And then he was gone. Never once did he appear in any other comic or join any super hero team, he was gone. Which stinks because bill showed us that it doesn't matter what you look like, if you fight the good fight people will respect you. Currently Bill is fighting with the Annihilators but I want to see him on Guardians of the Galaxy. There he could become fleshed out and bring a little nobility to the flawed Guardians. Plus he would add some much needed muscle to the team (sorry Groot)
Aquaman
YOU KNOW WHAT I WANT DC!! MAKE IT! MAKE THE GOSH DARN AQUAMAN MOVIE!!!!
So there you have it. A list of underrated comic characters. Do you think I missed anybody? Who do you think is unappreciated and what would you like to see in an Aquaman movie?
