Alright guys. After the Lord of the Rings movie Trilogy ended we all had a little gap in our soul. Now Peter Jackson has decided to fill that void with his new movie trilogy. The Hobbit. Now First off lets talk about the fact that they are converting one book into three movies. I don't think there needs to be three. I say at max there should have been two. One about the journey to the lonely mountain and one about the death of Smaug and the battle of 5 armies. 3 movies is just seems to be stretching it and just gives off this sort of desperation vibe.
Unexpected Journey
The first movie was very good. I was exited for it. We get to return to middle earth with all it's hobbits and elves and pure awesome wizards named Gandalf. And the movie was staring Dwarves!!. Dwarves are my favourite species in Tolkien universe. My one complaint about the LotRs (Lord of the Rings) trilogy was the fact that there was only one Dwarf. Dwarves are awesome, there not just greedy little cave people. I know that the LotR was manly about men but we got to see one Elf Army so there should have been a little more Dwarves. But now we get to have a whole movie about the mighty Dwarves. The movie itself is decent. You get to meet Bilbo, Bilbos a hobbit and we loves our hobbitses. And now the company of 13 Dwarves recruits Bilbo on there quest to reclaim a homeland and slay a dragon. Also there is Gandalf and he is going on his own quest to uncover a evil that is hiding in the shadows. The only real difference is that the camera style is brighter and crisper then the lord of the rings, so it doesn't have the same grit and grim. All in all a very good watch.
Desolation of Smaug
This sequel is a interesting watch. We still are on are quest with the Dwarves and Bilbo but now they have finally reached the Lonely Mountain and will battle Smaug. First off let he just say that Smaug is awesome. He is every thing a villain needs to and more, plus he is massive and looks like he would slaughter and burn everything in sight. The plot in the movie is very well paced. We spend a decent amount of time in every location and you get to see the difference in all of the people and places. And still there is Gandalf being awesome and fighting anyone dumb enough. Now being someone who has read the book I can tell that they changed alot. The necromancer was so prominent, there was no pack of orcs following the dwarves, and there was no Azog the defiler or Legolas. But I do like the changes, they add a more of a global feeling to it. My only problem with is movie is the action. The LotR really made there heroes look mortal, you felt the force behind a blow and saw the strength it took to swing the sword. But in the hobbit it is starting to dance on the side of unrealism. Legolas had like three moments were he took down a whole squad of orcs and it started to get annoying. Also there just to many moments that I just can't see in the lord of the rings. People would flying but just manage to grab a robe, they would jump down a 50 foot chasm and survive, if it was more realistic the company would be dead 13 times over. I just sort of miss the grit from LotR. This movie is way lighter then the old ones.
So the hobbit, do you love it, do you hate it, have you even seen it. Tell me what you think of the first two films and what you hope for in the second and also.......who is your favourite dwarf? (Not gimli don't cheat)
